I’m back!
Newfoundland was awesome! I wasn't used to so many hours on the ice but it was great to dive into working with all the kids again. I also had a great time visiting a Herbal Magic centre while I was there. They were so much fun and the centre was beautiful. I just love visiting all our amazing centres across the country. I'm so passionate about the program and to meet such great people involved with it makes it that much better!
Not to boast but…I am off to Vegas again next week! It’s my big 45th birthday AND my 4-year Anniversary so we are off to celebrate and have a holiday! I'm looking forward to getting away. I haven't had the opportunity since last fall so I’m really, really excited. This year I will be sure to post some pictures to my Facebook page!!
I hope everyone is having a great summer and staying focused! Try to get out and enjoy what's left of it :)
Earthquake!
It’s been a time for me to really focus in on my workouts. I’ve been hitting Hot Yoga daily and it’s amazing how it’s elongated various parts of my body. Who knows? Maybe there’s hope for me still to grow taller!
I’ve also been busy doing work with Ovarian Cancer Canada. We’re getting ready for another Walk of Hope. This year, it will be held September 12 and I just finished doing my ads for them.
The weather has been crazy. We had an Earthquake here in Ottawa! It was unbelievable but I’m used to them – I used to live in California.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying on program. It’s tough this time of year but remember, if you have an off day, get right back on the next day. It’s tough when you think you have failed by having a bad day eating the wrong things and you think you just blew it. DON’T allow yourself to feel that way. Know you are okay, get back on the horse and stay positive! We all go through it!
Setting goals
Happy week after Canada Day! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday. It has been a real heat wave here in Ottawa but it didn’t keep me off the golf course! I have been busy as well with an appearance/speech in Oakville, Ontario for Canadian Mental Health and another here in Ottawa for the Cree community.
I’m trying really hard to keep up my water intake every day with this heat and I hope you all are as well. Stay light with summer meals and try to avoid the caffeine as much as possible as it will also retain water as well as the heat. We've been taking our walks later in the evenings now because of this heat.
I really haven’t had to go on too many walks as I’ve been trying to golf a lot and that’s a lot of walking. I still haven’t broken 100 but I’m really close. It’s my goal. Having lost my weight has definitely helped my game.
I went swimming this week with friends and it was the first time in a very, VERY long time that I wasn’t afraid to wear a bikini. It’s things like that that inspire me to stay on track with the Herbal Magic program. Always setting goals for yourself is sooo important; it could be your weigh-ins, your health, or just wearing something you've always wanted to wear. I set and reached so many goals this year. I got my health back on track, weight loss, confidently wearing clothes I love, rewarding myself with my go-go boots and wearing a bathing suit without worry! It feels great!! I know you can all be successful! BELIEVE, and it will happen.
Busy, busy week!
What a great week! I participated in a charity golf tournament last weekend that raised $116,000 for underprivileged kids. Unfortunately, it poured rain the first day. It was very hard to grip the club, but the second day was beautiful!
After that, I went up to Toronto to work with my amazing Herbal Magic family to update our television ads. Like always, it was soooo much fun being around them. I also had a great time working with Gord Stellick. He looks fantastic!!! It’s such an inspiration for me to see people who have maintained their weight loss over many years. We can all learn from these people and be just like them.
On another note, keep up the water intake in this heat wave!!! We don’t want to get heat stroke or worse, retain water ;) so keep the fluids going!!!
Stay positive!
Hey Everyone! Can you believe we are seeing fall and school clothes already in the stores?! UGH! Where has the summer gone? This week was an emotional week for me as I spent a lot of time with my ailing father who suffers from Alzheimer’s. It’s been a tough few months for him and me, as I watch this horrible disease take over his body. I find this plays tricks on me as I have always turned to eating with my emotions. These are the times I find that I have to stay really focused and make the right choices. I’m sure there are many of you that go through the same scenarios.
My goal right now is to try to make some balance in my life to help me. I’m spending time with my brothers and trying to get out to do some things that distracts me. One thing I did that was a nice release was going to the Keith Urban concert at Ottawa’s Bluesfest. What a great concert! I’m off to St. John’s, NL to guest coach for skating this weekend for an entire week. It will be nice to work with inspired children and see their happy faces every day on the ice. This too will help me stay on program and not be sitting at home thinking of the fridge.
We must all stay positive even when times feel like they aren’t. Remember, we can’t turn to food thinking this will make things better. What will make it better is staying healthy and positive!!
Off to St. John’s
Hey Everyone! My journal is a little early this week as I am sitting at an airport waiting to catch my flight to Newfoundland. I figure I will be so busy on the ice every day I would say my weekly hellos now. I’m really looking forward to St. John’s this time of year as I’ve only ever been there in the winter. I will be coaching all day for 5 days. When I arrive tonight I will take the time to plan my meals, as I think I have a kitchenette. As for working out... well I think 6 hours a day on the ice should suffice BUT I’m really looking forward to my evenings for my walks around the beautiful city. Although I am going to miss my golf game! I hope everyone is truly enjoying their summer. It’s hard to believe we only have a month left.
Well that’s it for now, check back for my post-Newfoundland journal entry!

Back to busy!
This week I’ve been back to busy! Just when you get in the groove of vacation, it’s back to work and back to reality. This week I attended Queens Park in Toronto to help a select committee propose new changes in Ontario law to help benefit those in need with Mental Health. It was an honour to be part of such a great movement.
I am also starting to gear up for the Winners Walk of Hope and I hope everyone will think about supporting this. It’s a great way to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and get some exercise.

I can’t believe fall is around the corner and the kids will be back in school soon. This is the time everyone needs to stay committed and focused, especially the women, because you will finally have time to yourselves again and a quiet house and what happens? We want to munch! So now is the time to get ready and say, "I will stay committed. For me!"
Mobbed!
WOW, it’s been a crazy week. I’ve been so busy getting ready for Winners Walk of Hope and doing media, store appearances, etc. Then I was off to Regina to do a 3-day skating seminar and it was awesome! Saskatchewan has so many amazing skaters and many of them are male; it’s so wonderful to see that! Having lost my weight has made my times on the ice so much better and I’m able to really move around so much easier.
There was a huge Saskatchewan Roughriders Football game against the Blue Bombers and I was mobbed by people for autographs. The best part was that everyone kept commenting on the great Herbal Magic ads on television! Some people even told me that they joined after seeing them. It’s so nice to hear the great comments and have people comment on how great the ads are and how tiny I am! Thank you Herbal Magic! You are the BEST!!
