Food Diary Improves Weight Loss
Recording your food intake can help you lose twice as much weight as those who didn't record their food intake. In a study published in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine, Dr. Victor J. Stevens, a senior investigator at Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, and his team followed almost 1700 men and women who were either overweight or obese. Participants followed a weight loss plan and kept a food and exercise diary. Those who kept a food diary lost twice as much weight as the participants who did not keep food diaries. The food diary not only increased accountability, but also helped track the source of excess calories and provided participants with nutritional strategies for healthy weight loss. |
